Wavemaker Impact

Wavemaker Impact is the first VC climatech venture builder in SouthEast Asia. Our goal is to reduce 10% of global carbon emissions.

We focus our time and investment where we can have most climate impact:

- Land-use & carbon sinks: Represent 26% of Southeast Asia's emissions with deforestation and land-conversion for agriculture as major drivers. Southeast Asia furthermore represents a major global opportunity around nature-based carbon credits (land and oceanic).

- Agriculture & food: Accounts for 20% of Southeast Asia's emissions. Important topics are agricultural efficiency, food waste and farming practices.

- Transport & fleets: Represents 12% of Southeast Asia's greenhouse gas emissions. The primary source is land-based transport, followed by maritime and air-based transport.

- Industrial processes: Account for 20% of emissions in Southeast Asia. Light and heavy industry have received little attention so far, yet they represent an enormous opportunity for improvement.

- Electricity for buildings & industry: Totals 22% of all emissions in Southeast Asia in the form of electricity consumed in buildings and industry. Onsite solar, energy efficiency and equipment retrofit are important and scalable opportunities.
